Shipping back to the UK - Felixstowe Port
 

Hello all;

We made it to Oz from the UK in 13months a month or so ago.. spent 3 months there. I used to participate a bit more on the website but travelling has made it a tad difficult.

We cheated and flew back to England and the bike is on its way back on a boat. It is coming to Felixstowe around 23rd October time(not 100% on this as shipping industry isn't the most reliable with dates). The bike is in a Harley Davidson box (metal pallet base, 2 braces and cardboard fitted around it and stapled). The shipping company want to charge me £95 for taking the bike to their depot and £70 for the destruction of the pallet... which I think is a shame and a waste of money and resources. We only have use of a nissan micra (borrowed for the day) so not sure what to do with the crate remains (unless I take a hacksaw with me). Is there anyone local to Felixstowe that has a large vehicle that could give us a hand that day?

Or would anyone like the crate to ship their bike abroad??

Also is clearing UK customs straight forward? My bike is a UK bike and has V5 and Carnet and I have a UK address (I also am a citizen) etc etc.

Hi Oli - hadn't noticed this post until now - just to let you know we live fairly close to Felixstowe and have a 4X4 truck - let us know if you need a hand when the bike gets back - we could do with a bit of extra firewood for the woodburner! Cheers, Phil (as in Phil who was asking about your AT recently).
