shipping bike from UK to Halifax nova scotia
Hi all,
For anyone looking at shipping there bikes from UK to Halifax NS, I have arranged our bikes through the help of David at HC travel, which he has been most helpful with and answering all my questions, he has also given usful tips for other parts of our trip. This was at a cost of £595 per bike with a cost the other end for paperwork which will be around $40. I can recommend David as a good contact for this. I will update later to how everything went with shipment of bikes. |
I asume this is sea and not air?
Some more info might be usefull, looking at shipping (air or sea) from BE or UK to Canada later in June this year... |
There are shipping possibilitys from zeebrugge to halifax by willenius willemsen, see transport section of this forum
Did germany- halifax last year, no sweat Albert |
Bit more info, this is by sea on a RoRo ship, roll on roll off, and we have to drop the bikes off 4 days before they have to sail and will take 10days to reach Halifax.

@ Albert, thank you, saw your transport earlier and did already contact the Antwerp office as this is exactly what I would like to do, but it never hurts to see other options... Trying to figure out moneywise what the best option is as the quote that I got for airtpt is 1200pounds.
@ BigPete; allright, thanks. So the same as willenius willemsen. |
Roynie and I have used David/HC Travel twice now. Once to ship via Motorcycle Express by air into Toronto in 2006, and once to ship from Southampton to Halifax in 2009. I must admit, sitting in the departure lounge at Gatwick, seeing your paletted bike being loaded onto the plane you are about to board is pretty cool. Unfortunately, the price of airshipment rose astronomically between our two trips, making sea freight the only viable option for us. The Southampton - Halifax route was very efficient but, as far as I remember, we did need a sizeable wad of cash (C$327 - just checked) to clear customs in Canada. Also, remember that HC Travel will not be able to book your return shipment. You need to do that yourself when you arrive in Canada.

Hi BigPete
Thanks for the post, sounds a cheap option. Please let us know how you get on and the final total price - it will be much apprieciated as we are planning a trip in August. P.S what size of bike did you ship? Does it matter with Ro-Ro? Cheers |

I will let you know the final cost no problem, We are shipping XT660z tenere's, when filling in the paperwork David did ask what the weight was of the bike, but Tony's bike is lighter than mine and it was the same price. Not sure if it matters, might be just for the shipping company to work out weight of all vehicles being transported. What bike are you looking at taking? I will give David a bell and enquire for you. Here's a link to my ride tale so you can follow if you like. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...r-e-tour-74216 Pete. Apologies I have just got off the phone from David and it was me getting all my figures messed up, the most recent custom charges is C$158 roughly £100. Also asked him about frieght charges, it is £595 per bike doesn't change with size, might be a 5% fuel charge depending at the time but average is £595 per bike. |
