shipping from central europe to mongolia / kazakhstan?
Hello. If anyone has already sent the bike from central Europe to Mongolia (or Kazakhstan) and could advise how, where and for how much such a service. Thank you for all the tips :)

No comment on KAZ. Never researched or tried it.
Ref Mongolia. http://www.pan-europa.de/ contact Andreas Koenig, do it. However Mongolia inbound customs at Ulaan Batar freight/rail-terminal/airport allegedly required an ATA Carnet for the bike (available from your Chamber of Commerce, NOT an Carnet de Passage). ATA Carnets aren’t issued for vehicles used on a public road! Go figure… No carnet (neither ATA nor CdP) required at land border into Mongolia. See http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...2012-a-59454-3 post number 44 and others. I’m now intending on riding west-east and possibly using Landbridge (PE’s agent in UB) to ship bike home. hello Chris
Any news on your plan? I would like to do something that region in September/October2012....:scooter::scooter: |

My "plans" tend to change almost daily :innocent: I am limited to July/August due to work constraints. Today's version of 2012 plan is to ride bike to Moscow (hence avoiding hassle of sending unaccompanied vehicle into RUS), either put it on train or truck to Irkutsk (to avoid boring monkeybutt ride across with RUS or KZ) and then ride some of Siberia ( http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...a-2012-a-59454 see post number 8 for possible routes) before parking it in UB/Mongolia. Then in 2013 ride from UB to Kirg/Taj/Pamir Hwy etc and either ride bike back to Europe, freight with Landbridge from UB to Europe or send it back from Irkutsk to Moscow. Likely vehicle: "adventurised" Transalp (proper suspension/ground clearance, big tank, soft luggage etc.). That's today's plan. Who knows what tomorrow will bring... :funmeteryes: My DRZ would be a better lightweight option, but I don't fancy doing the miles on the little engine: it's a slightly highly strung e-model. I don't have the money/inclination to buy a more suitable 650cc single for the trip. Cheers and all the Best for the New Year. Chris |

The latest version of the "plan": I'm intending to join Ad and put my bike in his container from NL to Almaty/Kaz: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...zachstan-60688 Maybe this fits in with your plans? Chris |
