Shipping from Cape Town
 

Has anyone here shipped (air) a bike from Capetown, SA to anywhere?
Need to know a reliable shipping company there. Planning a RTW in 2008.

whereto do you intend to ship the bike? I flew and airfreighted my bike from Munich to Cape Town with the German Charter "LTU". They were reliable and not too expensive. The freight for the bike was ca 1,300 Euros one-way, my airfare was 325 Euros also one-way.

They operate from Windhoek/Namibia and Cape Town to Dusseldorf and Munich.

Thanks for your reply.
I intend to airfreight the bike to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where I am from.
Cape Town would be the last city of my 51 country journey.

LTU sounds good. Did a search and checked their webpage. They don't fly to KUL but that's ok as I can use their crating/airfreight service and expertise and fly the bike back on a different airline. They do fly to Thailand though; which is an option.

Would be great if you know (or remember) the contact person/address in Cape Town? :biggrin3:
