Shipping Darwin - Dili
Hi David,
I shipped my bike from Darwin to Dili in November, I went directly through Toll Global who ship in conjunction with ANL but also manage the depot in Dili, which makes it nice and easy. They charged per cubic meter and didn't require the bike to be crated, they use PJ's customs to pack the container, they did a great job, I did provide them with my own tie downs and the bike arrived in perfect condition. One thing I found was that the quote and end price may vary significantly and also a friend shipped a month earlier and paid quite a bit less. Good luck, Timor Leste has some amazing riding. feel free to message for more info or check out the shipping page on my Blog 2 Wheel Vagabond: Carnet & Shipping All the best, Ray |

A friend and I did Dili to Darwin in July 2014. The ship was rerouted through Singapore, which changed the travel time from about 3 days to about 3 weeks.
We had a whole container to ourselves for two bikes, and we loaded them up and tied them down ourselves. When we got the initial quote, there was a 4cbm minimum (which it doesn't sound like there is for going Darwin-Dili), which was well over what a bike would be, so we figured that we could probably get both bikes in that 4cbm minimum. But to our surprise, since our bikes were not registered under the same name, we had to have two shipments, rather than bundling them together, which cost us quite a bit more than we were expecting. All in all, I think it cost about $800 for each bike. Oh, and the shipping was done with TOLL, so I'm not sure what might have changed since the ANL involvement. Let me know if you have any other questions! |
