Flying out from Lima
hi there
I'm currently at lake titicaca bolivian side and thinking of flying my bike back to Switzerland beginning of May. I got two telephonenumbers in Lima, that could deal with "dangerours goods" like bikes: Tradel 574-4652 Continental Global 484-7544 Telephonenumber +51 1 xxx xx xx for Lima, Peru Has anybody heard of them? I'm going to call them as soon as I am in Peru. The phonenumbers were given to me from a lady at the Lufthansa Cargo Office which i first contacted. Karinmoto |
sales@continentalglobal.com.pe
comext@tradel.com.pe would be the email-adresses of the two entreprises. cheers Karin |
Lima
Was wondering if anyone on this thread could comment on who they used in Lima, and how the process went. I'm thinking about shipping out of Lima to the United States.
|
I would seriously avoid shipping out of Lima if you can. I had a nightmare of a time and found the logistics companies to be super corrupt with hidden fees everywhere.
If you can, I'd recommend shipping out of Guayaquil, Ecuador. A friend shipped his bike to Spain, using VECO LOGISTICS ECUADOR, Guayaquil, for USD $800 including insurance. The cheapest I was quoted in Lima was USD $1,230.00 to ship from Lima to Seattle, but that didn't include additional hidden costs of $1,640.00, plus whatever I would have had to pay on the US side. After 2 weeks of being lied to and manipulated, I demanded my money back, took a loss on the crate which cost USD $300 and sold my bike. |
Oops, that was $800 + $120 for insurance, not including as first mentioned. I've sent you a PM with the Guayaquil information.
|
Thanks for the info
Many thanks dunters, and I received your PM as well. I've heard a couple horror stories about Lima. Will probably just head to Buenos Aires as originally planned.
