Shipping from Mongolia to India/Nepal
 

We are working on a large trip through Europe and Asia, but our plans between Khazakstan and India are still a bit in the air.

Right now, it looks like getting a foreign vehicle in China in prohibitively expensive and complex. We would need to set up a trip with a approved 'tour guide' and the figures we saw ended up around $14k USD or more.

So we figured instead we would explore Mongolia and ship the bike to India/Nepal. There is not much in ways of online resources to find air freight out of Mongolia (the few resources I have been corresponding with have taken over 2 months and still cannot provide a quote).
Train would be an option if we knew it would get there on time.

Anyone know of the best options to get from Mongolia to India without riding in China?
Riding back up to Russia (i.e. Irkutsk) is ok as well, just as long as we get get down to India.

Any ideas?

Ok; maybe instead of not riding through china, Anyone do this without the mandatory tour?

It's basically unheard of.

The cheapest way is to join a tour with someone else. The most common routes are Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan or Mongolia to Laos, but you could always ask if someone wants to do Mongolia to Nepal. Check out the "travellers seeking travellers" forum.
