Shipping from SEA to EU
 

Hello fellows,

i am a german motorbike traveller and in Bangkok right now. I'm searching for an idea how i can bring my bike out of SEA.

I searched all around, but couldn't find the information i need.
Has anyone recent information of shiping the bike from Thailand, Laos or Kambodia (not Malaysia) to:

1. Vladivostock
2. to Europe (it hasn't to be Germany) maybe Estland, Belarus or a small country is more cheap?
3. Has anyone tried to bring a bike through China on a truck or train? Because then you don't need a guide, right?

Since freight will most likely get routed via the big freight hubs, like Frankfurt or Amsterdam (airfreight) or Hamburg, Rotterdam (seafreight) then wanting your shipment to go to some more remote location from the freight forwarders point of view, it is likely to up the costs.

(Not really my business, but if you´re willing to go to Vladivostok, then I assume you´re willing to ride for a bit until you get home... and in that case, why not freight by air to Kathmandu Nepal, and then ride on, that is probably the most common way to get out of SE Asia – or you want a route, that does not require the carnet?)

Well, yes I would love to ride through Mongolia, Russia, Kazachstan and would have the time. The Problem is, that i don't have much money left for a shipping...

The Nepal thing: So you would recommend to ride through Pakistan? Problem is: They gave me no visa in Germany, Turkey and Iran. So i am not shure if I will get one now...

I just mentioned Kathmandu, because for overland travellers, it is probably the most frequently used air freight destination from Bangkok (and vice versa).

It´s been half a decade, since I was in Pakistan, many things have changed, and frankly some recent news of bombs and kidnappings in Quetta/Baluchistan are not very encouraging. That said, they had martial law in place at the time of my visit, but I had no problems there whatsoever, stayed only about a week in the country, though. Actually everyone that I met in Pakistan, were very friendly, so what was on the news (also back then), and what I experienced personally, seemed very different. But I cannot guarantee anyone´s safety (...and for one thing, traffic is quite bad in Pakistan, almost as bad as India!)

All travel will always include a certain amount of risk, so you´ll need to make your own decision based on your own research.

There is recent information, that maybe you cannot get your foreign vehicle into Iran at the moment, so maybe the security situation in western Pakistan doesn´t really matter. If that info is correct, then you´d need to head north, and arrange entry to China, pay for the guide there, etc.

In 2010 we used Mr Kitti (yes I know) at Pro carry Logistics at Ladphrao Rd Wangthonglang Bangkok 10310. We found them the best of 4 quotes (asking locally and using the net) and thought them reasonably priced. They crated the bikes and completed all the paperwork before shipping to the UK. They also e-mailed the progress of the bikes We were happy with the service they provided. Or you can find a few carriers at Jatujak open market
