Shipping - SE Asia from the UK
Hello,
I'm planning a 3-6 month revisit to Thailand around April next year and was pondering on the thought of shipping my motorbike from England over there. Right here come the questions http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Has anyone done this before? (I'm sure someone has). I've been told not to even consider shipping it directly to Thailand as, apparently, its a right nightmare with customs and the paperwork etc. is this stricly true? If shipping directly to Thailand is a long and winded affair should I then ship it to either Malaysia or Singapore and then head North to a legal border crossing into Thailand? Does anyone know of a good shipping agent that could give me an idea on costs etc. Thanks for your time in advance, Ronnie |
Hi Ronnie,
I reecently shipped my bike to Australia and back from London. In both cases the bike went via Singapore so it looks like that is a "normal" route, and I certainly had no problems. I don't know about Customs in Singapore but what happens when you cross the border into Thailand ?? Will you still have a problem ? I guess at least you will have your bike underneath you rather than sitting on a dock ! The shipper I used is based in East London and is called Cutler Freight. Their phone No is: 020 8301 6626 |
