shipping from Thai /Malaysia or Cambodia to Japan
 

Hi everybody,

does anyone know, what the cheapest way is to ship 2 motorbikes to Japan. We contacted already some shippers mentioned in the shipping section, but some adresses do not exist any more.

Obviously the cheapest connection from Bangkok is to Kobe or Osaka, but the company says that it costs Usd 340/Bike for customs formalities/clearance. (the shipping itself is only 5 USD/cbm)
This is pretty expensive and a ripoff for sea freight. Is it Bangkok, which is corrupt?
Is it maybe better to ship from Kuala Lumpur /Port Klang or even Kambodscha?

$340 doesn't sound unreasonable to me Alexandra. I flew a motorcycle from Bangkok to Calcutta 35 years ago and it cost more than that.

Are you also saying the freight cost between Bangkok and Japan is only $5 per cubic metre? That number sounds way too low. I'd be expecting somewhere between $100 - $200 per cubic metre.
