Shipping from ullaannnbattaaar or lake baikal to Moscow possible?
Been on the trip for over a month now and met lots of nice people, now heading from Moscow to Mongolia (currently in nizhny novogrod).
Having met a great girl in Moscow I am exploring the possibilities of going back and seeing her for a while before my visa runs out. So my question is.... Is the question in the header possible, also is there any chance I could travel with the bike? |
I'm assuming this shipping will be done by road....
|
Have also heard rumours about trains being used possibly?
I look forward to your replies |
Lake Baikal to Moscow is possible via train it should set you back about US$200. The hassle of taking through the Mongolian border is not worth it (and possibly not possible) get up early and ride from Ulaanbataar to Ulan Ude in a day (it's an easy border crossing).

I've done it from Irkutsk to Moscow. Do a search and you'll find it.

I've shipped via truck from Moscow to Irkutsk, but the company also does the other way. Here is the link: http://www.pecom.ru
Unfortunately they don't seem to have an English site. Takes about 12 days and IIRC cost about $600. But one question: if you're in a hurry to see the girl, why travel with the bike, why not fly back to Moscow? |
Yeah true that is a much more sensible idea (flying) but I will just be sad to see my current girlfriend (lulu the motorcycle) go.
Thanks for help guys. Anymore suggestions welcome.... |
