Skandinavia to Southamerica
We are two Swedes who are planing a trip to southamerica in january 2003. We are looking for a cheep transport for our two bikes. Is it worth to drive it to London or is it better to ship/fly it from skandinavia or maybe Germany?
Which is best, boat or plane? We'll be happy for any tips. |
Figuring costs of accomodation and ferries , it is probably cheaper to go straight from your country to Sth America.
If you want the cheapest , sea is the way to go , and if possible avoid landing at Buenos Aires . An already crated bike will be cheaper so the best thing is to find if you can get the delivery box for your model of bike from a dealer , measure it and then telephone shipping agents with the dimensions . |
Hi Sydam
Start with this page on the Air or Sea? question: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tri...ers.php#AirSea For experiences of actual travellers shipping into South America, see this page: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tri...th_america.php If you decide to ship by sea, we suggest you use an international organization with its own offices in other countries. Wallenius Wilhelmsen http://www.wlna.com/ has been recommended. Their contact details in Sweden are: Wallenius Wilhelmsen P O Box 17086 S-104 62 STOCKHOLM Office Located: Swedenborgsgatan 19 Telphone: +46 (0)8 772 05 00 Telefax: +46 (0)8 640 68 54 They have offices in South America.
