Sydney to Vladivostok bike freight ????
Hi there, have been trying for ages to find someone who can get my bike from Sydney to Vladivostok (airfreight in a crate). Seems to be very expensive, does AU$2000 sound about right or is there an easier and less expensive way (have tried by sea but this could take up to 7 weeks they tell me?) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The alternative is to fly to Japan and ship by boat from there - that has been done before. Direct flights are the cheapest as that saves ground handleing, so find out what cities have direct flights - and where you sail from for Vladivostok. You may find that you can air freight without the crate - saves some $$$. |
Check out Geoff Kingsmill web site on http://dreamers1.com/russia/Practica...ticalities.htm
It contains a ton of information of Aus/ Rus freighting and covers most options. My alternatives to flying direct would be freight up to Japan or Korea then ferry across (both from Japan or Korea). For bike riding in Japan contact Chris in Tokyo on this site. He has a ton of information on getting in and out. After the 6 of May we will be able to tell you how easy or other wise clearing customs is in Korea. We were told that shipping Brisbane to Busan would take 17 days, Brisbane Incheon 30 days. Ton of info on site about ferry Korea/ Russia Cheers |
Cheers
Thanks for all the help, found the info re the ferry and think that I will go that way. Air Freight Forwarder has quoted me $1500 (airport to airport). I will clear it myself and ship it down to the Ferry (doubt I will ride down).

Also look at Adrian Scotts blog on Travellers Tales, he shipped Melb-Vlad last year.
