Transport from Germany to North America

Hi,
I want to make a trip along the Panamericana and start will be this summer in Northamerica (east coast, U.S.A or Canada). Now i am thinking about how to get there, by ship or by air. I think air is easier and not much more expensive?! Do you have good airlines, cheap airlines to get there? Or is it better to do the transport by an agency? What prices did you pay for the transport and what do i have to do with my bike (max. 4l gas, a box, e.g.)!

Thanks for all respones!

Henno,

Air is by far the easiest, and often in the end with the exorbitant port charges by sea, no more expensive.

Easiest is to just click on the Motorcycle Express link at the top of this page, (one of our sponsors) and tell them we sent you, and they'll completely sort you out. Easy, just drive the bike up to the airport, get on your plane and pick the bike up and drive away at the other end. A few minutes for paperwork both ends, and you're done. MC Express can also sort insurance. Their price is very reasonable for the service they provide. You can probably do it for less, but it's a lot of work, and the savings will probably be minor.

Hi Henno

How is it going?

We did the panamericana last year and we transported our bikes by plane from Nuernberg via Munich to Anchorage and right now they are on their way back from Santiago de Chile by ship. We did the transport stuff with a transport agent, InTime Hamburg, and so far everything went fantastic. Your first step should be, just ask several transport companies and agent about their prices and conditions. It is important to get a list of everything that is included in the offered prices so that you will not surprises in the end. We got our packing for free from our BMW dealer in Nuernberg, just ask, they cannot say more than no!

Check out our homepage and if you need more detailed information, just send me an e-mail.

Have fun! It will be the trip of your life, I promise.

Up the cups.
