Transport from Germany to South America
Hi all,
has anybody experiences with shipping a bike from Germany to South America(Buenos Aires or Santiago)? Money is an issue, therefore I'm looking for a cheap way for shipping, preferably by air? If anybody has information or done a similar trip/transport? Thanks for your help! Bernd |
Hi Bernd
At the HU meeting in Viema, Argentina last year, I met eight German riders who'd shipped from Hamburg to Santiago de Chile. They'd organised their own container which cost 800 euro, 100 each. I can send you the e mail addresses of some of them if you're interested. Regards, Mick [This message has been edited by Squidbrain (edited 16 September 2004).] |
Hi Mick,
yes, thanks, it would be great if you could email me some of your contacts to get information about shipping to SouthAmerica. Shipping will be an alternative, although I heard that it is even same expensive as a transport by air? Is this right? To all: There must be some more travellers who shipped their bike form Germany to SouthAmerica! Please share your experience. What will be the best for this trip? Many thanks, Bernd |

we have a container to Valparaiso/Chile. Leaving in December, with 5-6 Motorbikes at the moment. Rainer (Stuttgart) |
Hi Rainer
Whats the date you leaving? Do all the bikes have carnets? Reason i am asking is i dont have one, and too expensive but i am trying to find a port that doesnt require a carnet. I'll be passing thru Stuttgart next week, maybe i'll drop by for a chat. look out for my email. Cheers Dalbir Quote:

A carnet isn't necessary in S. America. Mick [This message has been edited by Squidbrain (edited 06 November 2004).] |
Hi Bernd, are you still looking at shipping to S America. I have the same issue with costs, cheapest option prefered. Time is no issue with me, just the cost. I will ask around while i am in Spain, and i dont mind riding up to Germany to ship the bike. On the other post, there is some possibility of a shipping from Greece, to Argentina. Only worry is the Carnet, i dont have one and am not getting one.
Argentina, seems to have different responses with regards to Carnet. Mick, i have sent u an email to ask for the email add of the guys you mentioned, the price they paid seems very good. Rainer, Was good to chat with you on the phone, and thanks for the info. Have a great ride in Chile. Dalbir (now in Speyer Germany, heading south) |
