transport by road (truck) within europe
I figured it must be easy and cheaper to put the bike on a truck from amsterdam to portugal and enjoy the driving there instead of eating miles on the highways to get there
has anyone ever done that? |
I havent, but as it's a common saying here, that Finland 'is an island' (logistically that's basically true), we have these days many truck companies offering bike transport services to Italy, Spain etc. But they're asking silly money (500-600€ one-way) considering the distance and not even leaving EU, so I'm not in their target group. I guess somebody are happy to pay this. And maybe you can find much cheaper services, if you're already in Central Europe. Speaking directly to the truckers could also be worth a try.

Buy a cheap van maybe find one or two other guys to share it.
You'll get your bike and yourself down there. When you get back sell the van again. It doesn't depreciate much in a few weeks. |
or ring around removal companies:thumbup1:

Ever thought about taking the train? As far as I know, there's a DB Autozug going from Duesseldorf to Narbonne.
