UK-Sweden
HI all, looking at doing a trip from the Uk to Sweden this summer. Does anyone know the best way to get me and the bike there? Train? or ferry.
Looking to start the trip in Malmo. Any advice would be appreciated |
Any reason why you don't want to ride? I go to Sweden two or three times a year at the moment and if we're not flying it's a day and a half to Malmo by road from Calais. Once you get past the Ruhr in Germany there are some lovely routes up to the Puttgarden ferry and across Denmark.
You can get yourself to Malmo easy enough by train but transporting the bike is going to be tricky. I suppose you could see if any of the bike transporting businesses would take it there ahead of you and you could fly to Copenhagen but I'd guess that's not going to be a cheap option. I'm not aware of any ferry that's going to be much help. |
There's a dfds roro between Ghent (Belgium) and Goteborgh that has a handful passenger cabins. There might be similar services from the uk. Its not the fasted but very comfortable....

Hi Nick
There used to be a DFDS ferry from Brevik in Norway to Immingham, I don't know where it goes to on the return but very good service. Bruce |
