Uk to india -By AIR. ...paperwork?
Hi, I'm go to India & I want to take my bike there for short term. I'm going early 2012 for 4 weeks and I was wondering if I could take my bike by air just for the 4 weeks and bring it back by air too.
Is it actually possible to take a 2006 Ducati just for 4 weeks and bring it back. Has anyone done this before took a bike by AIR for short term? And just to mention I'm a British citizen. I only got to read up on the permanent export which had lots of conditions such bike must be less than 3 yrs old and you must be moving to India permanently. I just wanted to know what paperwork is needed etc. I found out that if your taking the bike over permanent they charge you 150 - 200% TAX :nono: Any suggestions much appreciated!!! I don´t know how much money you´ve planned to spend on this.. but considering how much you´ll probably need to pay for airfreight, I think at least 1000 euros one way, 4 weeks will not be enough to make it worthwhile. You could rent, or even buy, something from India much cheaper (...I´m pretty sure it won´t be a Ducati, though!!).
And India will also require your vehicle must have a carnet for temporary import. About this, you´ll find info, for example, on this very site: Paperwork | Horizons Unlimited |
