A Very "2016" Dream — Colombia -> Cuba -> Mexico
Hey all.
I'm idly wondering if the current detente in relations between Washington and Havana might mean that it's a little bit more possible for motorbiking Americans to take the Cuba detour back north, instead of proceeding through all of the usual borders of Central America. I ask because I'm currently riding from NYC down to Patagonia and back up — typing this from Chiloé island — photos at http://instagram.com/jashkenas if you're curious. Does anyone know of any outfits shipping from Cartagena or Barranquilla to Cuba? Is it just too far/untrafficked of a route? Is the Cuba motorcycle import process too impossible? Or too impossible for a US passport holder? Any advice appreciated, even if it's just "forget about it." Cheers, Jeremy |
Cuba
Stahlratte did a trip from Colombia to Cuba (via Jamaica) early this year.
So maybe you can get some useful info from the captain: info.steelrat@les-raisting.de (If you don't get an answer check your spam folder...) They are on tour from Mexico to Cuba right now, so the answer can take a while... You can check us out on Facebook too: https://www.facebook.com/stahlratte/ But use the info address to reach the boat directly. |
