Vladivostock-Sweden
 

Hi!
Me and my wife are planning to ride from Sweden to Vladivostock this summer.
This is a very long ride so when we arrive in Vladivostock about the end of august I belive we are very short of time before we have to be back at our works again.
Therefore we need to send the motocycle and our self back to Gothenburg (or Stockholm) by Air as fast as possible from Vladivostock.

Do anyone out there know if there is any good (English,Spanish,Swedish speaking) Agent in Vladivostock who can help us with the Air Shipping and the Customs?

Have you done a search? I've seen several Vladi agents recommended on this site.

I have done several searching and so far I only found info about shipping to US,Alaska,Canada,Japan,Korea,Moscow but nothing to Sweden so far.
I guess I have missed recomendations about International Air freight Agents who ship to Sweden (Europe) who can help me.

Heh, I doubt there are any agents in Vladi which specialize in shipments to Sweden, I would contact the agents with experience of shipping to the other locations and see what they say. You are right that many of the agents seem to focus on ship/train shipping, but I seem to recall that some of them deal with air freight as well.

You might, for instance, need to ship by train to Moscow and then by air to Sweden, or by air to Korea and then by ship to Sweden, etc. Hopefully someone with direct experience of attempting to air freight to Europe will provide specific info.

In a pinch you might be able to find someone to ride it back for you, but that would add some serious miles to the bike.

You have some good ideas! Our problem is our jobs..my wife only has 4 weeks vacation and I belive I can help her make up a story to get 2-3 weeks extra without losing her job. In my case I have a contract work and this summer It will give me 4 to maybe 8 weeks of.
We are both taking a big risk when we are taking of for such a long ride in such a short time!

It will take years before we can take enough time of from work to make an adventure ride like this one without time pressure.
Thats why the bike has to be cleared out from the customs and Russia in Vladivostock and sent all the way to Sweden so I can take just a day of from work to pick it up when it arrive.

I understand, I have the same time pressures. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be very easy to get the bike back to Sweden, but hopefully I am wrong. Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Things where easier when I started my motorcycle traveling to far away places as a young man in the mid 80´s... just saved the money,quit the work, left my gear at my parents house and took of for as long as my money lasted.

I still hope I can find out a solution of this shipping issue!

If not, I have to change the plan for a shorter trip in Western Russia (it is the eastern part I am most interested in) or western Europe and save some of my money for a future all across Russia trip.

Have you considered taking the Trans Siberian train from Vlad to St Petersburg or Moscow with your bikes? It would take a week longer to get home but the adventure might be worth it.

I have been thinking about that.
Our main problem is time. I belvie our 5 weeks vacation time will be exceeded before we get to Vladivostock (about 12000-15000 km riding) plus train-ferry-ridingtimeback to Gotheburg and a bit of vaiting time between each step...this is the reason why I am looking for "Air" solution all the way back to Gothenburg Sweden.

I belive I can handle 2-3 weeks late back to work but my wife are terrified of the risk of be late back to work unless some real serious trouble appear at the trip.

I am considering about bring useful phone numbers and addresses, take of for Russia and head east and take things as it comes...if it gets to hard just turn around or put the bike and our self at the train direction west...or if we make it in time (mor or less) to Vladivostock just hope we find a good solution there. Take the fight with our bosses when we are back home again.

What opinion do you guys here at the Hubb have about this?
