Ivan, hi there!
I don't know whether or not his is of big help, but you can check this URL: LEOPARED EXPRESS Also, if you go to the Japanese community homepage here on the HUB, here is quite some folks who have even more information! In case of any other questions, just send me a mail!! Safe riding!!! |
Make sure that you get in touch with the HU Communities. The Vladivostok one is friendly and may even house you.
Sorry I can't help you beyond this. |
Absolutely! Try Alexei Gadyukov (he's on this forum regularly as Shustrik) - very nice guy, and so are his friends.

This is the website for the ferry.
BUSINESSINTOURSERVICE // Tourist Company The office is in the sea terminal behind the train station. You need a carnet for Japan. Contact the Japan Automobile Federation by fax. JAF For Visitors Bringing Vehicles with Carnet de Passages en Douane Also see my website. Motorcycling to Japan Note that customs even going OUT of Vlad can be a pain and take time. |

Here is Alexey's Blog which has links to web sites that traveled through there. Help For Riders Also two friends of mine are shipping to Japan from Seattle in the spring of 2009 then on into Russia. PM me for their contact info because they are planning a similar trip. Wow it looks like things are coming together for you. :scooter: |
Hi,
we paid 360$ per person and 160$ per motorbike last year in September. You have to go to the next JAF office to get an acception for the carnet. So you have to go to Toyama which is about 50km away (.travelogue | 2 auf Reisen) Cheers Holger |
Why Japan and not Korea?
An alternative to going to Japan is to head down to South Korea - no carnet required and the ferry fares are approx $250 for the bike and $200 for you.

Six of us caught a ferry from Vanino on the Russian mainland to Sakhalin Island and then another one from there to Wakkanai on Hokado in Japan last week. No problem at all. I will post all the details on the shipping section of Horizons in a few days.
