Singapore, Malaysia, Australsia is a big mess to ship by sea. All the ASEAN container cargo gets HUBBEd out of China, Korea and Japan. Do search here and you will find Canadian customs under North America section. |
Air freight would've been heaven. Not possible out of Dili (the small planes dont do DG) and they wouldn't do a sea to air transfer without clearing it in Singapore which was all around impossible. Making progress though, customs is not holding it and the container has been moved to the warehouse. Now waiting for them to unstuff it and send us the dang form to clear it!

Hooooray! We finally got our bike back! After the shipping company stopped twiddling their thumbs & sent us the notice, we went to customs and they cleared it in 2 hrs including running out there for and inspection which we did not need to be present for. We just have them the paper at the downtown office and they called us when it was done. They did stamp our (expired) carnet. After that we popped down to the warehouse, uncrated the bike & put it back together and paid some more fees. $465 on the Canadian side altogether. Total cost $2280, 2 months. Glad that's over! Now down to LA then home to DC & our RTW is done! For now;)

Merhaba Si,
Nice to hear all problems are over and you are back on the road in a different continent. Merhaba Marko, Happy to see you completely recovered and back on the road again.. Merhaba Jeff, You look more younger after this asia trip..There must be a secret for that.... Which seafreight company do you recommend in Bangkok to turkey.. Within a few days, best friends hakan and şandan will be there to send the bike back to İstanbul and your experiences highly appreciated..... All the best. |
