as per the other thread, jetboil

boils water faster than my kettle at home! Big enough to take a rat pack and water for a brew at the same time.

Does need gas though, so my kelly kettle is also a great piece of kit. Use it anywhere with any fuel to hand, twigs, leaves, anything.

When you just want a quick brew, you want minimum fuss. I have a brew box always kept to hand with teabags, milk (powdered, but it's ok), sugar, matches (including storm matches) and the jetboil.

These are the little things that make life bearable!

My 3 best bit of kit

Kelly Kettle
Fridge
Tyre Deflators

would go with..
1) Fridge.... Keeping food fresh and most importantly beer cold.

2) Roof tent... Love sleeping up there in a tent that cost us half the price of the named brands, but the same (if not better in some case's) quality.

3) Bosch Solar panel.. Keeps everything spot on.

4) Pioneer Touch screen entertainment unit fitted in the dash.... It's an extension of your smart phone, iPad etc etc. Plug your phone in and watch movies, music vids, navigation via gps and downloaded maps, music..everything thats on your tablet/smartphone. I understand most will say "Just use the tablet/smartphone anyway" but it's not quite like that.

+1 on fridge freezer , makes a good thankyou reserve , giving someone a cold drink in a hot climate(or not so hot) works wonders.

Coleman petrol stove , so much quicker than gas , and less hassle fueling

Air con , can really help with relaxing travel

zimcruza 7 Mar 2015 08:56

My fridge / freezer
Roof tent
FoxWing awning
JetBoil
And last but not least my trusty hand-held Montana GPS

I'm still working on how to fit all this stuff on the bike

One i forgot...

Hi Lift Mate, to attach to the jack. Lifts the wheels not the suspension.

Great to get you out the muck ASAP.

  • Garmin Montana GPS
  • Head Unit with SD Card for mp3 (no moving parts to skip or break)

I would say my number one piece of kit is my Lifesaver Jerry can. After three desert trips it has proved its worth. We resupply with water at campsites and occasionally petrol stations or community wells. Anything that is going to be used for drinking, washing food or cooking goes through the Lifesaver. In three trips no one has gotten sick. It is rugged, jerry-can sized and comes with a 10,000 litre or 20,000 Litre replaceable filter.

I have 2 x 220L water tanks, the fillers are high up on the camper front wall. What was indispensable in Russia and Mongolia was a 25L plastic bucket and a 110V (run off inverter and outside outlet) electric pump with hose attached to outlet for filling from fat but short hose, or no hose at all, at places like communal pumps. Otherwise I would have run out of water.

My credit card

Use it pretty much every trip, and gets me money, food, fuel and a place to sleep.

My wife Jan and I travel together in a Defender and she makes a religion out of good cooking in camp.

Sooooo..... my favorite piece of kit is an Ortlieb folding washing up bowl!:thumbup1:

Left to my own devices, the answer would be a tin opener and wash the plate up in the sandbier
