don't messages eventually dissapear...
Am I right when I think that the messages found on the HUBB aren't saved for ever?
For most of the topics, subjects, this is not that bad and understandable But for the info on bike friendly hotels, bike friendly shops, places to go not or to go, great routes,... that's kind of sad. Wouldn't it be possible to keep that kind of info in some kind of searchable database. I do know this means more work and so. I would be willing to help out where possible. Fact is that I am not the most experienced internet person. But hey... it's never too late to learn. Feel free to contact me about this. You guys are already doing a great job!!! This site is the best there is on the net for biker!!! |
Thanks, glad to hear you like it - and we love volunteers!
No worries - no messages will disappear unless I decide to kill them. Eventually the HUBB messages will get so large it slows the system down, then we will archive them in a searchable database based on the HUBB - so it will be instantly familiar and easy to use. But we aren't anywhere near that yet. Note that the HUBB is searchable now - we even give you two ways to do it! Re volunteering, have a look at the Tripplan pages, we explain what we need there. Also need country info for travellers - see the Turkey pages for an idea. A page on Belgium would be great! Carnet / insurance / shipping info in/out, places to stay, bike clubs, places to see, a few photos etc all of interest. I could stand to learn more about Belgium myself, as I'm 1/4 Belgian - and haven't had time to visit properly yet. ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |

I will see what I can get together on Belgium to put on the website. (after the first aid piece) Cheers, Pieter. |
Actually I have visited Belgium, but only briefly, haven't spent any real time there - so I will accept your offer!
Not sure when I'll get there, but I'll be knocking on your door one day - just make sure you're home ok? http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif Looking forward to your info on Belgium, have a great Christmas! ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
