Public Profiles
Hi, thanks for the note - correct - We're wrestling with that one - the Privacy Guru (Susan) doesn't like showing it at all, but we've argued it through and I have got permission to set it so that "Contributing Members" or "Gold Member" can see others profiles. You can edit your own in the user options panel. For more on Membership see the Store - link on left.
Thanks, Grant Ok, Susan relented, profiles are now viewable by all - BUT NOTE: the info is ALL voluntary, there isn't a field for addresses or phone numbers, so since it will now ALL be visible to ALL - (except the ALTERNATE EMAIL which is ONLY visible to Administrators - Susan and I) - just remember the basic Privacy Rules - don't put anything on the web that could be used to steal your identity: No phone number, no address. Sorry, but I don’t understand. I’m able to edit my profile but not to see it or other friends profiles???
Also how I can use a custom avatar??? Regards Javier… www.dakarmotos.com |

In line with the above comment, I presently have neither the user rights to view or edit my own profile, nor view anybody else's. (A little while ago, you said I was a "Gold Member".) Cheers ChrisB |

Profiles explained in another post in this thread. You should ALWAYS be able to edit your own - if not let me know, there's something wrong. Avatars ONLY Members can use custom Avatars. Everyone can choose from the 250 or so standard avatars, and we will be happy to add more if someone wants to send us a batch of good ones. We feel that those who are willing to support the website directly by taking out a membership deserve recognition and extra privileges for that support. Members can also post more pictures, and have more space for private messages etc. and they will be getting more later. Remember, even something like custom avatars are - in quantity - a big user of expensive space and limited server resources. Our server already runs US$250 a month, and the new HUBB software has almost doubled it's load - currently just under the optimal load. A 50% increase in load and we'll need a new $erver. Hope that explains it and makes sense - much as we'd like to give everybody everything, it's just not possible. There's no such thing as free, someone always pays. Grant and Susan Comments, ideas, suggestions always appreciated! |
