Private Message?
 

I've sent a couple of PMs recently: when sending, I get a "successful" message, but there is nothing in my sent message folder. So I don't know if they have been sent or not. Any ideas? Cheers.

In your settings is an option you need to tick. Go to "User Options" above left, then "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default"
That should do it! Of course while you're there, have a browse and make sure it's all the way you want it.
Note: that's been "ON" by default when you register since about 2015!

And "OFF":
Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators
