Problem with "Go to first new post" button

I've had this for a long time and it's still there, after the system upgrade, after I replaced my PC with a brand new one and it also occurs on any other PC I use.

If there is more than one page in a thread and I click the button it always takes me to the first page. Works correctly for single-page threads, it will scroll down to the new message.

Just tried this in IE and Firefox 2, happens in every case.

Regards,
Peter.

Anyone else? It works fine for me so it's hard to trouble shoot! :(

I've had my trying to be helpful cap on for the last 10 minutes but regret I cannot find a go to first new post button.
I've found a new posts selector arrow but suspect that's not what you mean.
I tend to find my way around using post: 24 hour forum selector.
I'll happily give it a test if someone can explain where the button is, and yes I realise when it's pointed out that I'm likely to look a bit silly but hey I'll get over it.

It's not a button :)

It's a bit of text that appears just below the upper "Post Reply" button, and on the same row - but to the left - of the Linkback / Thread Tools / Search this Thread etc buttons.

You'll only see it when there are new to you posts. Once you have viewed the thread, it won't be there.

One of the cool things about this software is that there is a ton of goodies - but it takes a while to find them all.:eek3: I'm still learning the admin side, it's super complex.

Hope that helps!

Ah, got it, yes that helps. thanks Grant.
Tried it and it all works properly for me, once I understood it of course.
I'm Windows XP in case that's of relevance.
<edit> It worked successfully for both single page and multiple page threads.

Thanks! Yes - Everything is relevant! Biggest pain is when someone says - "it doesn't work". period. Reminds me when I was a mechanic and a customer would say "My bike doesn't run. How much to fix it?"

I test on Win XP, Vista, Win2k, Mac OSX, Ubuntu Linux, and Firefox and various flavours of IE and Safari on all - but unless I know exactly the problem it's tough to figure it out! I try hard to make sure all our pages work on all those platforms, and sometimes it's not so slick as a result. :( But at least you can read it in an internet cafe in Timbuktu! :)

In this case though I know Peter is on the road and gives good detail, but I can't reproduce the problem at all. :(

Thanks to all for looking and trying to be helpful. I guess the problem is with my account then, just like I still have a login problem that nobody else seems to have. Again it appears on all internet cafe PCs I have used in recent times.

Since it's only minor and doesn't affect anybody else let's just forget it.

Cheers,
Peter.

(Not exactly on the road at the moment - being a voluntary teacher to Burmese kids in Mae Sot for now.)

Problem gone.

Just as an update, this problem has now disappeared. I'm not aware that I have changed anything significant in my account settings, but the software on my PC has changed a lot (XP SP3, Firefox 3, ...).

Thanks,
Peter.

Good to know it's sorted - sounds like it was a toxic combination on your computer. We have made changes to the backend, but nothing that "should" affect this.

Anyone else similar or other odd problems?
