Hello from an Aussie abroad
 

Hello everybody,

I recently found this site. Having dreamed for years of going on a long ride somewhere, I got things in order and got a license to do so last year. This year, with the help of wheatwhacker at Motofeirme, I have managed to buy myself a Yamaha Tenere in Ireland, with plans to get to know the bike in Europe before taking it south overland.

I'll probably have a few questions, maybe some ride reports over the next few months. I have already read quite a few posts around here, lurking and trying to gather information for my trip.

gday mate,when do you start your trip and how long for.i spent 3 months riding through europe a couple of years ago on my own and had a great time.you meet some fantastic people when touring on a bike.

Pete, you ask when and how long: well, I guess I started about a week ago, rode through France far too quickly and have halted for a little while in Chamonix (I also intended to spend much time on foot in the mountains). Schengen rules say I can stay in Europe 90 days, so I guess that's my time limiter for this continent. And I hope to stay outside of oz until early next year...
