Hello from an Aussie rider.

Hi everyone.

This is my first post here at HU. Ive been browsing this website now for quite a while and its seems like a great place to get some great ideas on motorbike travel. Im an Aussie rider, living in Brisbane on the mid east coast of the country.

In May 2015, I planning on heading to the UK to purchase myself a motorbike – thinking a Vstrom 650 at this stage. Im then hoping to head over the the race week of the Isle Of Mann TT in June and from there, riding through Europe, the Baltic region and then maybe a bit into Russia and up through Finland and Sweden and then the UK again. Im planning on camping most of the time and maybe staying in a cheap hotel maybe once or twice a week depending on where I am etc. Ive got 6 months to fit it all in. And I cant wait.!!!

So I just wanted to quickly introduce myself considering Ill probably be asking a lot of questions over the next few months.

Thanking you all for contributing to such a great forum.

Safe roads,

Jed.

Hello Jed.. I'm a newbe too and have also been stalking the site for some time before registering last month.... but welcome anyway!!

Ref the TT,, unless you have already booked a ferry it's unlikely you will get one as they were already fully booked for 2015 before this years races finished!! Apparently a load of tickets were purchased in bulk by corporate companies but hopefully some of these will be released to the general public early next year. Good luck and enjoy your travels...:scooter:

Hi Bones and Becsta, thanks both for your warm welcome.
Bones, I was only just the other day looking at the internet in total confusion about the best way to get over to the IOM next year. If I have to leave my bike in Brittan and swim over to the Isle, then Im willing to consider that!!! Hahaha!I might only just head over for a few days just to to absorb the atmosphere for a while and then continue on my way.
Becsta, my trip has been many years in the dreaming too. I guess youre like myself and you find yourself dreaming about the journey on an hourly basis!!??
Safe travels,
Jed.

G'day everyone!
I might as well join in on the action and say hello as this is my first post too! The wheels are in motion for an overland journey starting in April 2016. I'm going to ship the bike (DR 650) to Europe then venture back through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan (KKH) then through to SE Asia then back to Oz. I like your idea Jed of heading to the Isle of Man, man! Although it'd be more a buzz getting there on a jetski than swimming mate!

Safe travels everybody, cheers

Hey Jrod, welcome to HU too mate.
That sounds like an epic journey youve got planned mate, what an awesome trip to do.
Yeah maybe swimming to the IOM is not the smartest thing to do... Hahahahaa!! It'll probably be cheaper to buy a jet-ski than it will be to buy a ferry ticket from one of the tour/ferry companies!!

Hi jed.

I'm from Sydney and at the moment I'm in Instanbul.
I purchased a vstrom through a seller on a UK bike forum site and picked it up after flying in to London.
I can share some knowledge from my experience that may be helpful.
