Hello from Devon
Hi all,
was told about this website from a guy I met yesterday who rides an XTZ850RR and thought I'd have a look. I have an Africa Twin RD04 and am going to be slowly upgrading it for a trip abroad (not yet decided where- hence my reasons for joining this site!) First year of biking, been in Landrovers for the past few years across Europe, winch challenges and off road competitions etc. I have always wanted to drive into the desert, and I think two wheels would be more fun to do it with. Have been doing a bit of Greenlaning on the 'twin' over past few days to try out the new tyres, and it seems the bike is far more capable than the thing sitting on top of it at the moment! Hopefully that will change! Anyway - I look forward to reading the trip stories on here and get some inspiration on where I want to go, and then trying to persuade the wife that it's a good idea to join in! Welcome to the forum Grumbleweed.
There is so much info on this site from so many wonderful people! Have fun researching your future trip. Aside from H.U. you should also google a friend of mine, Ian Coates. He's into his 13th year around the world on his Africa Twin. He's now 68 years old and still out there....... still married too. How is Devon? I'm an Ivybridge lad originally. Kindest regards Nevil |
Hello and welcome from Italy! bier

Devon is great - I am in Newton Abbot which isn't a million miles away from Ivybridge. Have been discovering Dartmoor on the twin which is great, (though I found out yesterday my head bearings are shot so will be off the road for a couple of weeks). |
Welcome to the HUBB Grumbleweed,
Nice looking AT......if only they still made 'em...... Feel good in the knowledge that even though your bikes off the road for a couple of weeks, here in (most of) Canada our bikes will be put away pretty soon.....not to be ridden again until probably late April or May....... Consider Morocco for a great trip, it offers modern convenience with old world charm, easily accessibe from Europe, beautiful scenery and the option to get well off the beaten track, friendly people, delicious food and of course the edge of the Sahara to play in.... Look up posts and info from Tim Cullis....he has travelled Morocco extensively and has done a good database with places to go and places to avoid...... |

Hi and welcome Grumbleweed, I'm in sunny Dorset!

Hi Grumbleweed, am in Devon myself near Tiverton. I ride a BMW G650X and am an active member of Devon TRF, so have access to all the legal green lanes around Devon. A couple of guys that I ride out with live down your way. Anyway welcome to the forum.

Harty,
You probably know my brother. I believe he's doing a talk soon on crossing Mongolia on a Ural sidecar outfit this year for the TRF. His name's Andy (Fixer on most forums). Kindest regards Nevil |
