Horizons Unlimited - The HUBB - Hello from Michiana

I am planning on a Motorcycle Adventure Trip. I want to ride from Texas to Nicaragua. My daughter is doing a "gap-year" mission-type trip to Honduras then Codsta Rica or Nicaragua and I would like to ride down and visit her.

This is a tremendous undertaking for me and I am full of fear and anxiety about it but think I can do it. I am 54, and am in good shape and health, if I am ever going to do this, now is the time.

I have riden extensively in the US on various motorcycles. I would be buying a used, dual-sport bike for this trip and would possibly "donate" it at the end.

Mexico is particularly worrisome and the route from McAllen, TX through Tamaulipas seems like a no-go. I am looking for advice to traverse Mexico as safely as possible. Did I mention I don't speak Spanish...
