Hello from Scotland
Hi, I have just joined and it looks like a great site, full of information. I live in Ayrshire in Scotland and ride a Suzuki Bandit 600. I also have a CX500c Custom with Sidecar for my dog Murphy.
I have a couple of Australian mates on here, Noel and Ray who both have sidecars too. I am travelling to Europe for the very first time in September this year. Travelling to Luxembourg, Poland, Austria, Czech, Italy and others finishing at the Munich Oktoberfest beer My bike is just about to get a few jobs done and then its mot, after that I shall start saving for September and gathering some essential spares, some I believe are a requirement for riding in Europe like bulbs, high viz vest etc. Any info would be much appreciated. murphy goes euro......
Hi Haz. :welcome: Sounds like a nice trip, leave yourself plenty of time, don't rush it. You are visiting some nice countries. As far as I know high viz vest not required to be worn whilst driving, but have light one in topbox in case you have to stop on motorway. Austria requires you to carry a small first aid kit. Spare light bulbs are handy. If you camping then a camping carnet could be handy, saves showing/giving passport at reception. Remember to get green card from insurance. You could check with the BMF regarding the bike law in your planned countries. Anyways have loads of fun :D :Beach: Vince

Welcome Hazel
Each country has their own requirements & the AA provide a good summary for each: Touring tips, country by country | AA Compulsory equipment here: Compulsory equipment abroad | AA |
That is so cool thst you have a side car for your dog. Enjoy your trip. I hope to take my bike over and ride the UK and Ireland in 2018 (when I can take long service leave).

Best laid plans
Oh well, best laid plans have gone to waste. My Oktoberfest trip is now off due to a variety of reasons from other travellers pulling out to lack of funds due to having to sell my house
I am going to some sidecar rallies down south in England with the furball which will be great to catch up with old friends. Going to a rally up in the north of Scotland too. |
I have long wanted to ride up alongside the caledonian canal and maybe visit John O groats. Think maybe I should do it this year before I need a green card to ride in Scotland. Maybe take some Euros with me also :)
