Hi from Bosnia to everyone
 

Hi,

I'm 36, male, from Bosnia, married, have one son. Even though I joined HUBB almost a year ago I am introducing myself just now. Probably I've waited to buy motorcycle and I finally got my new 2014 Yamaha Xt660z Tenere. :clap:
I have ridden sport bikes before ( in my early twenties), '01 Kawa Ninja 600, later '04 Suzuki GSXR 750 but they weren't what I looked for. I sold my bike and retired from motorcycling for a few years :nono: ( switched to blue '70 VW Beetle ) :cool4:

Now, my bags are ready, tent and sleeping bag too, but waiting to arrive new Tech's 10 and AGV ax8 evo and then :scooter: ..... we'll see, depends on free time... can't wait :mchappy:

Bosnia is on my list of places to visit, i was speaking about this to my well traveled slovak friend and he told me if i go i should go see the Bosnian Pyramids which after a quick google search seem pretty cool

When i first decided i would like to travel on a motorbike i started to pay real attention to all the bikes i saw and whilst living in Perth (Australia) outside a local shop in fremantle i saw a Xt660z and the owner came out who was Spanish

He then told me he is riding this bike back to Spain from Australia in a few months and whilst telling me about his route he let me sit on his bike which made me feel like i was coming with him also:mchappy:

When ever i see a Xt660z i always think about this guys trip.

Well in the end i went with a DRZ which to be fair suites me better :rolleyes2:

So what route do you plan on your trip?

There's lots of nice roads over here and lots of places to visit, especially if you can take some light off road.. with your GS it wouldn't be a problem at all

if you are coming here, don't forget to visit Lukomir (Bjelasnica Mountain), Rakitnica Canyon, Prokosko Lake ..... and eat a ''cevapi'' at Plava voda in Travnik....

regarding my plans, I would start easy, get familiar with bike and take weekend trips, do some wild camping and explore nearby region.
I travel a lot doing my work and I saw lots of countries I wish to visit and explore on bike, like Romania, Montenegro, Turkey.... but my dream ride would be to travel Silk Road... (wishes, wishes )

Don't forget to stop by, I'd love to meet fellow HUBB-ers and share a stories.

Bosna je zakon :scooter: Par puta godišnje sam gore, imam kućicu kraj Kupresa.
Uglavnom se vozam izvan ceste, tako da mi je gore idealno :clap:

Prije nekoliko godina sam na putu ka moru isao preko Kupresa, tad sam vozio GSXR-a, bilo je ljeto, vrijemo odlicno, cesta odlična i odusevio me krajolik cijelim putem. Fantasticna priroda i pogled. Na faceboku mi je i danas wallpaper slika s Cincar planinom u pozadini, a ja pored Suzukija ispred :cool4:

Thank you for providing GPS tracks, of course I am using it. I'm using Garmin Montana. If you have some more adv tracks please post it, I really would like to explore that region, camp there and spend few days. One of the most beautiful landscapes in Bosnia.

P.S. if you can recommend nice Garmin montana mount I would appreciate !

I'm planning Bosnia in mid June. I will drive something like Banja Luka - Mostar and out towards Dubrovnik.
Maybe you have some good roads what are a must close to the route? If you can put them in Google Earth it would be easier to localize them

I'll try to draw route later, but my suggestion would be:
Banja Luka - Jajce - Donji Vakuf - Bugojno - Prozor - Jablanica - Mostar - Stolac - Ljubinje - Trebinje - Dubrovnik.

It's not the shortest nor fastest but that's what I would take.

After discovering Bosnia last year, I'll definitely be going back this year. We have about 3 weeks in June to ride around Ex-Yu and we hope to spend most of that time in Bosnia, Montenegro and Serbia.:thumbup1:

A question for you (and I am directing this question specifically to you, because you live there): I notice that you refer to the country as 'Bosnia', but the official name of the country appears to be 'Bosnia and Herzegovina'.

Is there any difference implied between the use of 'Bosnia' vs. 'Bosnia and Herzegovina' - in other words, are there two different areas, one called Bosnia and one called Herzegovina - or is the word Bosnia commonly used as a short form to refer to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the same way that 'America' is often used as a short form instead of the full official name 'The United States of America'.

I'm using it as a short name. Bosnia is northern part of country and Hercegovina is southern part. There's no any kind of separation. Here we mostly use acronym BiH (which obviously mean Bosnia and Hercegovina) but I wrote Bosnia just to more clearer to foreigners and of course due to easier and faster typing. Just as example you made for USA.

Hi mirnes maybe you can help me with some information

I want to take a short 2-3 week trip to Bosnia & Serbia

I was going to ride there but it would be much easy if i just fly there and pick up a bike.

I am looking to either rent a bike or buy a bike cheap and would need papers to cross either from Bosnia to Serbia or the other way round

I would want a old lightweight bike for off roading, old and cheap that starts and rides

I would be flying out Saturday next week or Sunday

Any info on this would be great

Bosnia is a wonderful country been 3 times, 1993, 1997, not very good times but still scenic and great people all the same, and again in 2013 to visit old haunts.
Its still as beautiful as ever and well worth a visit
Although my Bosnian is a little poor now

i booked flight to Serbia only £40 direct from London and leave next week, problem seems the paper work side for border crossing from Serbia to Bosnia as so far it seems i cant get ownership papers.

A friend has found a few cheap bikes but just need to try sort out papers for border crossing, seems even riding a Serb registered bike in Serbia with insurance and not having owner papers is an issue

Any advice welcome from Serbian or Bosnian Hubb members :thumbup1:

Hi mirnes, since you come from Bosnia, I'm also interested to know how traveling will be there. The roads are fine there, you say, but if you want to travel as fast as possible (We will be competing in a race on the public road) with 10 vehicles and 1 motorcycle, are there enough roads that can support that? And I'm very curious about the border crossings. We come from Europe, so that makes it easier ;) But does it take a lot of time? And lastly, does Bosnia have any additional requirements to the vehicles that are allowed to drive there?
