BMW REPAIR IN INDIA
BMW REPAIR IN INDIA
HELLO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS OR THERE ARE BMW SHOPS IN INDIA TO ORDER SPARE PARTS AND REPAIR OTHERWISE IF YOU KNOW GOOD MECANICIANS I VE GOT SOME OIL LEAKINGS FROM THE GEAR AND ONE FORK, nothing grave I NEED TO PUT NEW SEALS IN THE FORKS AND IN THE GEARBOX WWW.BMW.COM GIVES NO ANSWER ! CHEERS happy travels |
Dont know where you are but there was a good guy who did some work on my KTM in Goa, he knew what he was doing but as with everything in India.... time is just a relative concept that they havent quite got to grips with yet... so you have to keep on at him, details were posted to Repair shops section. I would have thought Mumbai would be your best bet for a BMW dealer if there is one??
Word of warning though, if you end up getting some parts sent in, as i did and regretted, customs will charge something in the region of 100% of there value in duty, minimum. So, on the docket where the price of the goods are declared when the package is sent, go for the absolute lowest believable amount. Will |
HELLO Vincent Do not go to Kaka Singh Auto centre in Chandigarh! He ripped me off last year with a gear box problem & parts I got for him he would not pay for, said he had no cash!! I now have a small drip, were I was dry befor & he droped my gear box mixing up all the shimes!! Try Gurdial auto engineers, 1664/35, Naiwala, Karol Bagh, New Delhi. Mob 9810674823 They have "NEW" BMW SEALS for FORKS AND GEARBOX (But 25 years old!) They seam to be from a 1980 R100! They said the parts were from an R80, but the valves & guilds I fitted were for a R100! They have seals, lots of them, for 36mm Id, BMW forks & I did see a lot of gear box seals, but they may be a bit hard! They will tell you they will sell the parts 1/2 price to you & to get the prices of the web!! Their idea of half price is that you don't pay tax at home! I got second hand prices from Motobins. I did all the work my self, using there tools when need! They are helpful, but a pain some times, as they all ways know best!! Even when their talking bull shit!! If you ship bits into India, DO NOT let the commpany who sends the parts put any bill in your box!! Or the nice customs people will try to charge 174% inport tax!! which we DO NOT have to pay!! I got away with it, but it took a whole day to do it!! Get the parts sent as a gift! They will come in through Delhi, so if you have to go to the custom, don't be to far from Delhi!! I'v just left, Delhi, I'm in Rishikesh, making for Nepal, I have fork seals & a fitting tool, I made! But only for 36mm, BNW forks, they fit from 1980 to @ 84, they fit G/S R80, but not GS100 / 80! Enfield use the 36mm Id, size fork seal, but are of poor quality & they use three each side!! Standed oil seal commpany, of India make good seal. Ride free, Ride safe, Ride one more mile!! Vincent,
I wouldn't let anybody but an experienced BMW bike mechanic touch my gear box. If the leak is not too bad (and no oil getting into the clutch) just keep topping it up. It won't be much anyway. The risk of getting your gear box stuffed up is too great. Try contacting your embassy or consulate to see whether they will allow you to get small parts shipped in diplomatic baggage. Apparently the Germans are willing to do that. (My cousin did it.) No duty and guaranteed speedy delivery. ------------------ Salut from Southern France, the bikers' paradise, Jenny & Peter. |
thanx a lot mates
i ll check for parts at the shop Gurdial auto engineers otherwise, i will get some delivered at the french embassy to avoid customs i just need to change the seals in the forks and gear happy trails |
