Buying in India
 

If I want to avoid driving through Turkey, Iran etc and concentrate my efforts on India/Nepal, is it still possible for me (as a British citizen/resident) to purchase a used or new bike in India/Nepal? I have heard conflicting reports about the Indians only allowing residents to purchase motorcycles.
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.

You can buy a moto in India,
but choice of moto is limited

You need a business visa and clearance from your embassy before you can purchase a motorcycle in India, though you can always buy it through various renters who will purchase the motorcycle in their name and give you the papers for a fee.
