Can I take a bike to China, if Im working there?
I've looked through other threads, and info is a bit sketchy it would seem so forgive me if this has been answered.
If I get a job in Shanghai can I take a bike with me? Im an Aussie and the bike is an oz registered Honda XLV 750. I know I can buy a bike on the cheap over there, but it would be fun to have the old beast there to tinker around with on the weekends and go for a blast into the countryside when the weather suits. Is it possible or are there major flaws in this plan?doh |
We moved to china about 2 years ago, so my info might be dated, but ...
Last info I've seen, you can't import motor vehicles (including motorcycles) as personal effects in connection with a work-visa move unless the vehicle has diplomatic plates. Check out: http://www.aemovers.com.hk/downloads..._Hints_HHG.pdf Just FYI, the paperwork process involved in an import is a bit insane, and you can't actually import your goods until you have your residence visa (not just work visa) in hand. Good luck with your move! Best, Brenda |
Thanks for the quick replies...looks like I'll be getting a JH600 and a big old tub of loctite!!!
Oh well it will be fun to see how quick I can get it to go. |
