Carnet for a Nepal registered bike
I plan to air freight my Nepal registered bike to KL, Malaysia and travel back to Nepal via Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and India.
I am a UK citizen and all paperwork for the RE Himalayan is legally in my name. Can anyone please advise on how i obtain a carnet for this trip? |
You will need to contact the RAC back in Uk, they will issue you with a CDP for a Nepal bike upon payement of the relevant fee and a deposit of 500% of the bikes valuation. I valued my Bullet at £1000 when I did this a few years ago, the deposit is returned when the CDP is returned to the RAC with all the relevant custom stamps. It can take some time !

RAC stopped doing Carnets a couple of years back. Its CARS now.
Also for Nepali Carnet, try Matt at Hearts and Tears Pokhara, he used to secure Carnets for Nepali plated bikes. |
Hi Fern, have you had any experience with CARS issuing a CDP ?
Obviously I wasn't aware of the changes, do you know if the same criteria still apply and what their charges are, I can't seem to find a website for them. Cheers UB. |
I have no experience of CARS, I used RAC, but CARS info is found in this thread
