carnet query for motorbikes in Nepal...
Hi
currently our bikes are in Nepal under a carnet. I understand that the bikes can stay in Nepal for a period of 6 months on the carnet....however, does anyone know if this can be extended without leaving the country and re-entering? However - if we have to exit and re-enter in order for our bikes to be able to be in the country longer than 6 months - do we have to be out of the country for a set period of time before we can re-enter? I am going to go to customs and get information....but thought I'd ask here first as it might be quicker and easier on this forum! thanks in advance. |
hey lisa
a friend of mine got this information a couple of weeks ago
...Great to know that you are planning to come to Nepal with your moterbike and plan to leave your bike for a year in Nepal. It is possible to leave your bike in Nepal for a year but you have to register every month till a year. The registration charge is Rs 250 per day that means Rs. 250 x 365 = Rs. 91,250. We have to take the bike to the registration office every month... it means it should be possible to leave the bike for longer. expensive but possible. i entered to nepal last week from banbassa and i asked the custom guys on the border about a possibility to leave the bike longer then 6 month here in nepal. thise guys even didn't know that you can't leave your bike longer.... i hope i could help a bit. if you have any further informations about leaving the bike longer please let me know. thanks bernhard bernhards.reiseblog |
