What does a seppo look like these days? denim shorts, headband, dali stache?? ;) As for scratchs and dents... I couldnt care less, but I would be lost if my ignition switch and fuel taps are snapt! Point taken about the fuel, will refrain from doing it, didnt think about the enforced conciquences. I like to stay away from officials. You mentioned the bike will be fully covered if I left it at its destination for a few days. Fully covered means what? Sorry. Covered in a cover? Burlap and Hay? Dust? Insurance? You guys have given me confidence to do this so Im not worried about it arriving late. All the Indians I know are pretty thorough chaps so I trust they will get it there eventually. Id be interested if you could pass on the details of the courier service that uses the rail network. Sounds good. We are OK with riding in the wet. Floods are another thing though. Heat doesnt bother us if we can keep moving, traffic avoidance is difficult in that part of the world I guess. Maybe we will get back on the bike in Ahmedabad and ride north to Dehli. If time permits and weather not too oppressive Rajasthan looks good. Night riding is a complete impossibility for me. No way, but thanks for the idea! Thanks a lot. Nathan and Aki. |

I forgot you were one of the kooks doing this on a postie! That's great. Mines a bit bigger but I should've done it on a postie, too. They don't sell them in the US as far as I know.
Me and my dali stache left and sadly, my dali stache died as I look for work. Ride your bike up to Delhi unless you're on a time limit. If it gets too hectic, then take it to a train station. Wow, good luck! |

Im confident my switches and taps will be safe from tampering. If my bike is covered in all that stuff then maybe I could keep the pannier boxes on... Would someone cut through dust, Hay, Cardboard and jute cloth to pick a lock only to get to my homemade rain gear and toolkit? Who really knows huh. Dave. Yep we are the kooks doing this on a Postie. yes, they have done a good job. I shipped my bike from Madgoan to Delhi. You have to be the day before departure at the train station for tapping the bike.Costs only IR 200.- Fee for transport of the bike (Yamaha Xt600) + 2nd Sleeper was IR 1200.- Because of the usual delay of train trips in India :mchappy: i couldn`t get my bike back on the same day in Delhi. After 17:00 the parcel office is closed. have a nice trip PS: in the cost of IR 1200.-there is also an insurance, but only lost not damage (depends on the value of the bike - i said €1.500.-) |
