Convoy crossing myanmar sept/oct 2013
LOOKING FOR ADDITIONNAL OVERLANDER VEHICLES TO CONVOY CROSSING MYANMAR (from North India to Thailand) IN SEPTEMBER.
A group has just tried entering Myanmar straight at the border; impossible without going through an agency to obtain official permit. After several months of negociation, we think we have reached the lowest global rate possible, but obviously, the more vehicles we are in the convoy, the less the price per vehicle. We are presently 2 trucks, the meeting at Burma's boarder has been scheduled between the 1rst and the 15th of september 2013, but we need quick and serious answers to forward all the documents to the agency. For all additional information please send us by private message. Fellow friends and overlanders thank you for sharing this message all around, we really need your help... |
Myanmar
I would be very interested. Where do you want to enter Myanmar, and how much will be everything?

Interesting...
Could you please share this with details including gates and expenses instead of keeping it secret with private mails... Will be following this activity with great interest... Seems one of us is gambling on the wrong horse... BECAUSE; Last summer Turkish Red Crescent were unable to get permission to transfer food by trucks from India to Arakan in a cooperation with India even meetings were held between 3 governments so this humanity organisation was realised from south bordergate and partly by planes with the participations of 2 Turkish Ministers and wife of our Prime Minister guarded by local armies.... A Myanmar consulate is my friend also and we were told that foreign vehicles are not permitted to enter from India as there is no road connection for foreigners..You can enter from south and have to exit the same gate and armed guard is a must and you have to pay all his and his vehicle expenses... So again just a few weeks ago after same replies; 1- my 2 friends also shipped bikes from E.India to Tayland..They are still there.... 2- Two months ago, a Turkish hiker was not allowed to go to north Myanmar by local transports-buses to exit to India even he had visa and entered the country..So was back in thailand again and took a flight to India..Currently on Everest now.. Some passages from the reports I keep..... ""Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Thai Premier Yingluck Shinawatra recently made agreements on pressing efforts to complete this ambitious project by 2016. This new highway will link India’s Guwahati in Assam with Mandalay and Rangoon in Burma, ending with Bangkok in Thailand. Currently air-connectivity is the only option between the countries.. Myanmar is now, fortunately limping back to democracy under Suu Kyi, and Thailand and Malaysia are fast becoming the top tourist destinations. A 375 – mile two lane highway from Indo-Burma border to Mandalay is already existing, which is getting upgraded and elongated. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra reviewed the status of the 3200-km-long highway during their talks in Bangkok on 30 May 2013, and decided to ensure that the project will be completed by 2016."""""""""" If you wish, I can ask for the power and credibility of the agent that you are in touch with... I guess its a Thai agent..I know there are some agents in Thailand organising tours to Myanmar with commissions and bribes via south entrance and exit..Also a biker, owner of a tour agent was here 40-50 days ago and I was informed and invited when he has requested a meeting with the tourism mngr. of İstanbul.. Sincerely hope you can do it. Wish you all the best... |
does anybody know what kind of permit they need? Is it the same like in China? The convoy means you will see nothing in the country. Which gate do they want a permits to go through? Here was some topics about crossing Myanmar normally with own bikes.

I'm with Mehmet..........................
''Could you please share this with details including gates and expenses instead of keeping it secret with private mails'' Because, I've never heard of anyone achieving this, I know people have entered from Thailand, paid for an escort, and returned to Thailand, but they have not been allowed to traverse the country and exit into India, nor have they been allowed to enter from India. UB. |
So far I did not receive any additional information. At one point I have to decide whether to go to the east or to head south. Because if I can not make it through Myanmar, I have to ship from Mumbai. I heard that there will be a convoy next year but I never heard about you guys! How far are you with your planning and is there a serious chance to realize it?

Regards entering Burma from India, check out the older thread: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...possible-67651 (......I remember somewhere on that thread somebody claims to have succeeded in getting the right permits and entering Burma from India on a motorcycle in 2013, but I have no further details about this). |
I`ve got an advice about Kathmandu - Bankok flight also. Looks good but maybe expensive. Anybody knows a contacts there to check the actual pricing?

Crossing myanmar 2014
Hello! we are planning to cross Myanmar between February and March, we have a safe contact and thanks to him one group is crossing now (we are waiting for the report from our friend in the group) and another will cross early February. The cost with this guy can be around 1000 dollars including food and hotels (sleeping half night in the vehicles) and all the permissions with escort.
Prices are per vehicle for 5/6 days it can decrease depending on the number of participants. Anyone interested? |
