Crossing Iran with expired export license plate
 

Hey all,

we are currently crossing China in order to get back to Europe with an old Mercedes van.

We would like to cross Iran to get to Azerbaijan instead of crossing by sea from Turkmenistan.

Only problem is, we have an expired German export license plate (year 2013). Does anybody have a clue if we will be able to cross Iran with it, given we have a valid Carnet de Passage?

Hi Tim, just wondering how you went last year with your expired export plates? I'm leaving Germany on export plates shortly and the insurance is staggeringly expensive for my trip duration, so any info you can provide on how you handled this situation would be much appreciated! Cheers, Taylor.
