enfield dealers in nepal
hello everybody.
can anybody recommend a reliable motorcycle dealer in nepal, especially in kathmandu? has anybody experiences with used-class enfields bought in nepal? what are the estimate prices for these motorcylces (eg. bullet 500)? thanks in advance, matthias |
Hi Matthias,
There's an official dealer for Enfield in Kathmandu - you can find their address on the royalenfield.com site. Probably a good place to start. As far as I know they will be more expensive than in India so expect a minimum of about 1800 Euros for a 500 - possibly more. Best bet I guess is to mail the distributors. Hope that helps as a starting point. Cheers Richard |
Enfield Dealers in Nepal
Hi Matthias,
Try Himalayan Enfielders off of Lazimpat same lane as the Israeli Embassy, They have a range of new and second-hand 350 and 500's, to rent or buy. I spent 6 months a few years ago going round India (two up with 2 big bags) on a 350 no complaints apart from cables it was a 1996 model which was supposed to be a good year... I personally didn't notice much difference with the 500, which I rode back from Lhasa to Kathmandu in 2001, have a test of both of them. If the bike is Nepali registered it will not have put the same amount of miles in as the Indian ones, so u should get a low milage one in Ktm, not sure about prices though. Also at the durbar square end of Kumaripati up in Jawalakhel, there is a garage (on the left) which should give u an idea of prices. This is where I get my Enfield serviced - I think I had 5 guys working on her last time for a service! Also the notice board at Mike' Breakfast normally has a westerner selling a bike or two. A lot of Israeli's do the India - Nepal thing, so also try the Pumpernickel restaurant in Thamel - there is also a notice board Finally, I spent 3 glorious weeks last November on a 150 Pulsar going round Nepal, light, fast, economical - excellent. Cost Rs 400 a day, under 4 UK pounds, from Mr Sunil Shrestha, Thahity, Kathmandu, Tel: 4260568 - he has a small shop, and also rents out bikes. This is not in a tourist area so if you are new to Ktm I suggest you get someone to show u. Regards |
thanks to all,
i already contacted "Dugar Brothers & Sons" and "Himalayan Enfielders" per mail but they did not respond yet... i´ll try once again... regards, matthias |
Not quite kathmandu
I know its not Kathmandu, but there is a really reliable company run by a British guy called Rick, they are based in Pokhara, and specialise in Enfield bikes. They buy, sell, rent and customise enfields and run bike trips all over nepal. They also have vintage british bikes so if your interested in old triumphs and things this is the place to look at. The name of teh shop is 'hearts and tears' and they are on the Lakeside in Pokhara. They have a website Hearts & Tears Motorcycle Club Pokhara, Nepal :: Bike Adventures In The Himalayas

himalayan enfielder club
I just moved to Kathmandu and I am interested in purchasing a 350 Enfield Bullet so contacted the Himalayan Endielder club of Kathmandu. They quoted me a price of 150000 to 170000 Nepali rps for a used 350 bullet that is Nepali registered. At the current exchange rate that is over $2400 usd. I was just wondering if anybody else was selling a Nepali registered 350 bullet for a cheaper price. I also was in contact with an expat selling an Indian registered 350 bullet for 45000 rps or around $700 usd. That seems more like a reasonable price but who knows... I also went by the durgar brothers showroom and they want 244000 rps for a new 350 bullet, that is almost $4000 usd.

A brand new enfield bullet would be approx 2500 - 2800 USD in India...wonder why it should cost so much there.
