From Italy across russia to Hanoi

I've a question... :)

I wanna go to Asia from Italy by motorbike. it's easy no?

There are a lots of issue because I don't know how is the road.

1) I would like to ride until Vladivostok and then across the China's border, travel in China directly to Hanoi in Vietnam. I've searched on this forum but I've found just old topic and every of them said: " it's impossible!". Expansive, china police, need an agency, etc....

So, first question:

Have you news about this story? it's allowed now enter in China across the border?

2) I don't have any problem to change route. I wanna just travel! So, I was thinking to across the Himalaya mountains...

Are there road from Tajikistan to India? I've been in Ladakh and Kashmir but I don't remember now....

3) Take a ferry from Vladivostok to Japan and the ferry to Taiwan and another one to Philippines and ( finally ) to Vietnam.

I prefer don't pass trough Arabian States...

Well, it seems you have a lot of great ideas in your mind, but reality, expecially on the above mentioned countries, is quite far from dreams...
For instance, you have to provide for a Carnet De passage, wich it means deal with A.C.I. (Automobil club of Italy) to get it. Did you already get in touch with them?
The route: getting overland from Vladivostok to Vietnam it is pretty quite not possible, unless you get in touch with a chinese tour agency, wich provide for all paperworks, to let you go ride through the country(with a mandatory guide in a car) 'till your next destination.
This means time consuming, as for the bureaucracy, and high rates fares for you and your vehicle's stay in China.
The long is the route across the country, then higher will be the price you're going to pay.
Shipping abroad from Japan also means money. You'll have to crate the bike, i mean a brand new crate, pay for it, then face the Japan's shipping rates, no matters if by sea or air.

You have picked the two most difficult countries as your destinations - namely China and Vietnam. China requires that you have a government approved guide by your side all the way through the country, a government approved itinarary, sleep in only government approved hotels and so on. Its no room for deviation neither from the itinarary nor from the timeschedules. And it is - far from most peopke think - quite expensive to very expensive. China has had a economic growth of 10-15 % for many years and is not cheap.

I crossed China in an organised tour/group 1,5 years ago from Kyrgizstan to Laos so its doable, but its not cheap. Your best option is probably to find a group to join to share the expenses for guides, permits etc. Remember most chinese guides will beed your paperwork in their hands at least 3 months in advance so that they arrange all permits for you.

To get into Vietnam with a big foreign bike you need permits and probably best arranged to a touragency. There doesnt seem to be many persons who have done this so it doesnt seem an easy option.

There are ferries from V'vostok to Southern Korea and maybe to Japan too. But are there ferries from Japan to Taiwan? And from Taiwan to The Philippines??
And how on earth are you going to get from Philippines to Vietnam???

I'm planning as well to reach Vietnam by LML Star departing on July 2016.
Me and freind of mine thought on crossing China but we've just underestood that it's too much expensive!! thousands of dollars!!
it's better to pass through Pakistan, even if we have to understand how to get the visa.

About VIENTAM I'm just noticing that it's not so easy as I thought... is it really mandatory to book a tour operator (like for the myanmar..)???

I had a similar plan to go from Germany to Vietnam through China, but when I heard that you need expensive guides in China I decided to go trough Turkey, Iran, Parkistan, India.

For what I have heard they start to open Myanmar, so it might be possible to cross Myanmar without a guide, if you are a group of at least 4 people. Perhaps we can figure sth out?!

But as you I just want to travel. Do you have any other ideas?

I've tried to find some news but unfortunately I ve got... nothing!

I ve called a China friend in Bejing and him tell me that is not possibile ( he called the embassy ... ). So I got it..it's not so easy to drive in chiana with my motorcycles and it's too expansive.

Anyway I wanna try to do it. I could send my mc in Europe and then enter in china border walking! It s another option... Do you have some news about it? Cargo ship?Train? Flight?

Does anyone join me?
