India Road Map - Hard copy!
Hi guys,
Im not like most of you and do not have a GPS - though i am starting to see the good side to them! I am currently in Chennai and is on the hunt for a good road map of India. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to buy one? I have a basic train map showing the major roads, but I like to take it easy and explore the more smaller yellow roads! Any suggestions are welcome as i have time before my motorcycle is unloaded. |
Go to a good bookshop and ask for the "Eicher road map " It is a book in a handy format and covers India and Nepal. Fits on top of a tankrucksak.
Maybe you can even find an old Lonely Planet Map in same format and still good. In fact the Eicher is more or less a copy from the Lonely Planet one. Before my GPS time I used these books all over India and always reached our destination Happy travels Menno |
Thanks so much for the name, i have just found a book shop in Chennai that sells it!! Whoohhooo
Ive got the LP but i like something to put in the tank bag! Thanks again Danielle |
Hello Danielle,
I do not know what your plans are but riding south from Chennai direction Mahaballapuram. Pondicherry, Chidambaran, Madurai, Rameshwari, Cape Comorin and then north trough the western ghats and avoid as much as possible the national highways. Then you will have a wonderful ride. I must say that highway 17, on the westcoast improves a lot since many of the trucks are loaded on board a train. When you reach Goa. Agonda beach in south Goa is the last paradise in India. Forget the rest of Goa unles you want to party. In Agonda no party, just beach. We travelled roughly one and a half year on an Enfiield trough India. The last time was march/april last year so we are no strangers in the field. succes Menno an Tine Stammes. Retired people |
