Insurance in Malaysia and Indonesia
I am planning my trip to Malaysia and Indonesia, starting in August 2010. I will ship the bike to KL.
Where and how can I can third party insurance? Many thanks in advance for your help Albert |
Hi - foreign-registered vehicles in Malaysia are covered by the malaysian motor insurance pool.
I got my cover in KL - I can't remember the exact address but I know it was right next to an overhead monorail station. Try this - Uni.Asia General Insurance - Malaysian Motor Insurance Pool Indonesia can't comment but I know the Malaysian insurance covered for up to 60 (?) kms inside Thailand - it may do something similar for Indonesia. Third party insurance in MY is compulsory and available at the border.
In Indo we didn't bother. I think if you have an accident there it's always the foreigner's fault, because s/he has money. |
Hi Albert,
If you are in KL go to The Automobile Association of Malaysia.3rd floor Bukit Bintang Plaza ( just ask for BB Plaza)>Jalan Bukit Bintang.KL. It's right in the centre of KL very easy to find. I got my third party insurance from them, US $30, 25.50 EURO for 12 months. Sorry can't help with Indonesia. Regards John. |
