If nothing changes, i will leave Ankara at 27.Feb. and will be heading towards Iran and Pakistan.

If there is anyone in Iran and is need of something, i can take it from here, if avaliable in Turkey of course.
Its better if its small and light, but depending on the emergency i will try to take heavy and wide materials also.

I wasnt quite sure where to post the question, so it might at the wrong topic.

DURTY FUEL OF IRAN

In Iran a have encountered dirty fuel more than i have expected. Once the motor didnt start in the morning : spark plug cleaning and open filter with cloth cover helped. Other time it stopped while running, just as i was entering a gas station. Again cleaned.
Last time again while coming to my hotel at Shiraz, motor stoped.

Now i am awaiting for a new battery which i drained while trying to restart the motor.

Question is how did you deal with the fuel in Iran? or is everyone having similar problems?

How is the crossing to iran from Turkey with the war on Iraq. I expect to be going the otherway in about 6 months. hope the fuel gets better. I think straining through a chamois or material can help with dirt wont do anything for the octane rating though!

Actually there is no problem entering Iran. War situation involves Turkish citizens a little bit, as i always got a remark about it. But never disturbed me or felt unsafe.

I used a filter but didnt help, since i think the reason is the additives they used.

Hope you will be luckier then me.

Hi all, hope to be in Turkey middle of April, then in to Iran end of April, hope you all have trouble free run and might see some of you guys on route, Plumbob.

Its definetly a very safe place except the route between Bam to Mirjaveh. Mirjaveh was the only place that i felt unsafe and close to Bam i got robbed in broad daylight.

But other then that its definetly a safe place.

Be sure to buy fuel only in or close to big towns. LP books are out of date and places with private wc/showers are around 10 $.

I am on my way to Tehran tomorrow and may stay there for 2-3 days. Will leave as soon as i collect the money from the bank and head to Pakistan.

I'm travelling by motorbike this summer to Iran from Turkey.
