Iran Pakistan border
Hi dreaming of joining Kalash Festival(Pakistan) in May 2019. Anyone crossed this border recently from Zahedan(Iran) to (Taftan) Pakistan distance is about 100 kms with route 84, google maps has a different itinerary and the total distance is more than 750 kms, is the shortest itinerary by route 84 doable for foreigners. Your advices and info are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the moment and ride safe !!!

The distance from Zahedan to Taf Tan is about 100kms.
You will have to stay in a designated hotel for foreigners where you will be picked up by the police and brought to the border in the morning. Have to spend the night as a "guest" of security in Tag Tan and next morning escorted to Dalbadi where you spend the next night. Then to Quetta where you can take the train or continue with escort to Lahore. I crossed October this year and this info is accurate for that time. |
Thanks !!!
Thanks for your valuable info, very useful !!!

Pakistan Iran Border
As a tour operator and helped lot of overlander who visited Pakistan. the bestest issue the face is escort :) mostly it took 3 days to reach Quetta and 5 more days to Lahore. the best option if you want avoid escorts, take train from Quetta to Lahore, it will took 22-24 hours.
One thing if you get annoyed and tired from escort in Balochistan, please don't get upset and do visit Karakoram highway and north Pakistan :) Cheers |
We crossed in late september this year on motorcycles. Make sure you don't arrive in Quetta on weekends otherwise you'll get stuck there until monday or even tuesday, because of the NOC you'll need to continue. Usually you need 2 days to Quetta, but sometimes they go for it in one day only. If you arrive in Taftan too early you might get escorted the same day. Tell the police escort in Quetta as much as often, that they should bring you to the police station and not to a hotel. Otherwise they drop you at terrible and shocking expensive Bloom Star Hotel and you will probably not be able to sleep in the police station anymore. When they drop you at the police station, insist to sleep there and they will let you, but you have to stay strong. You can get the NOC for the same day, but you have to insist beside being friendly. Enjoy your trip to Pakistan. It's a beautiful country with some of the nicest people in the world.
