Iran restrictions? Is this true?
Hi there,
I am currently in Istambul. One of my readers sent me a message on Facebook announcing they have introduced restrictions for overlanders in Iran. As I was about to start my journey to the Bazargan border, this is a really unpleasant surprise. Any news about this? |
I just had a quick read at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...282#post437998
Seems like there are people on the way ;-) Surfy |
Not sure what restrictions you refer to but I was in Iran two weeks ago and there were no problems travelling on a bike as an overlander.
Very friendly people but watch out for the drivers & other motorcycles - especially in towns. |
We drove Bandar Abbas to Barzagan in Dec 2012 and toured Iran for one month.Fantastic country with friendly people everywhere including all police and army.
Recently there are lots of conflicting reports about transit requirements but the bottom line is confused and I suspect will remain so for some time. Do not let this put you off. If you are in Istanbul already then the trip from there to Dogubaiazit and on to the border is well worth while on its own. Do not forget to eat an evening meal in 'Doggy'-fab food. Iran is a great place to travel and very hassle free once in.The people will repay your spirit and more:mchappy: |
Hey Fabian,
I know many people who have entered and crossed Iran lately. Many of them are at HUBB too. Cheers Omar |
Hello,
Just answering myself: No problem whatsoever in the border. They are familiarized with overlanders. The process is quite straightforward. One of my readers had informed me that overlanders had been refused entry without an official guide. Aparently, this was a new law or something. He was told so in the Madrid embassy. But no, this is not true. Thanks everyone from Iran. |
Entering iran on a motorcycle 27th sept 2013
I entered Iran 27/9/13 at Bazargan. It was easy. Fingerprinted myself! No awkward questions. No guide required. I managed to avoid the touts who try to "handle" the carnet stuff for you.... Didn't pay a penny to anyone. Didn't buy insurance as I left the compund at the bottom of the hill. Overland into Iran business as normal
Cheers, David |
Entering Iran with US Visa
I've read a lot on this site about various Europeans successfully procuring a visa for Iran but haven't heard anything about a US citizen getting one for travel through the country. I'm currently in Turkey with my motorcycle and would love to receive confirmation that this indeed has happened.
