Iranian Visa - Approved
 

Just a very quick line to say we both got our Iranian visas approved yesterday. It was a 2 1/2 month application and we collect in Istanbul and hope to enter Iran on 01/10. We leave today and I thought the info might be of interest. Details on Index Simon

Congratulations. We have just got our authourisation code after a month of waiting, and on my birthday too!!! A few beers to celebrate tonight me thinks!
We're crossing 1/10 also if you fancy a beer some where before/after????

Simon asked me to update this thread - he was able to get the Iranian visa added to his passport in Istanbul very easily. He was first in the queue at the consulate when it opened at 8.30, had to do some photocopying/ get photos etc, was asked when he wanted to pick up the visa, said "today", and was told to knock on the door at 3pm (the consulate closes at 11.30). He did, and was passed his visa.

He is hoping to enter Iran on the 1st October - said you can send a text if you want to meet up (he can't access his emails for some reason) - 07856 509075.

Currently holed up in Hotel Terhan. Dogubayazit rm301.
hotel ıs ok. bıt mıngıng and the shower spılls out ınto the bedroom carpet but waıtıng here untıll I receıve my carnet.

That does sound minging - hope you've escaped the hotel by now!

Simon's now at the Iran/ Pakistan border, he ended up speeding through Iran as he met up with a Spanish guy in Esfahan whose visa was only valid for 7 days..

You've probably already discovered that communications are a bit ropey in Iran - Simon's UK mobile didn't work at all, he bought an Iranian sim but couldn't text non-Iranian numbers with it, and he could call me but the number was scrambled so I could never call back!

He will probably get your message soon, finally.. Hope you enjoy Iran, anyway, and let us know if you're passing through Delhi.
