italian bikes and parts in thailand
 

ok guys, next year im moving to thailand, since i cannot ship my bike there, dont ask why, i will probably sell it, it is aprilia caponord, since capo is my passion, and all the aprilia and ducatis , can i find some of those in thailand ? can i buy them as foreign citizen , can i ride them there, or if there is any renting service for ducati and aprilia ? and of course moto guzzi ;) ) ))

You can buy a Kawasaki Versys in Thailand.

The Triumph Tiger is made here . . . but you can't buy one easily.

Thailand has severe import duties on any motorcycle over 400cc. Figure 2 to 2.5x what you pay in Italy for the same bike here.

There is a used "grey" market but it's important to make sure the bike has LEGITIMATE papers or it could be confiscated without any recourse. People ride dodgy paperwork bikes here for years and get away with it. But there's an impressive collection of Ducatis, Harleys, and japanese sportbikes shown in the Chiang Mai police compound that have been confiscated.

The riding, especially up north, is tremendous, on and off-road.

if i cant ride italian there i wont ride it at all ;)

so should i then fidn a way to bring my aprilia there ? by ship or something ,and how smart it is, service, parts and stuff ?

You can bring your own bike to Thailand, but you get a temporary import permit, that specifies, how long you are allowed to keep it in Thailand, and it's not very long. I hear you can find ways to sort of work around this, but after about 6 months you will get real trouble with the customs (note, I have not tried that 6 months myself). A permanent import probably costs too much to be a feasible option.

ok i also told with some locals there , i might find some italian bikes, most of them will be stolen or with bas papers, others are sold like ducs monster water cooled, for their market, but the prices for european bike in thailand is double the price here..........so ill have to settle with no riding at all or to hope for best, i just cant shift my bike there it is too much money and the problems

Ducati dealer in Phuket
 

Four weeks ago I passed through Phuket and saw a small Ducati dealer. I guess it is possible, but you'll need deep pockets.

i know all the european bikes ar enormously expensive there, some sort of an extra taxes for that my friend bought gs1200 there for 32000 euro, omg..............
